Miami-Dade County Carlos Gimenez…. He giveth and he taketh away…. To clarify an update from earlier this week, Miami’s official and most sacred ritual aka the lap dance, was banned, then unbanned, and now banned again (rebanned?). The June 28th Order mandated performances and performers to be no less than 10 feet away from patrons at all times, but the County clarified the next day, the 29th, that they do not consider dancers to be performers so this rule did not apply to them. No word yet on what the official County business description is, however when the Mayor was questioned about the subject, he announced they would be banned from here on out. This reiterates it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Next on the chopping block this week is on site restaurant dining. As of July 1st, on site dining is closed from 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. every night until further notice within Miami-Dade County. Alcoholic beverage sales were also banned this week for the same time frame, so let’s face it not too many customers were going to stick around all night and order water anyway. Other than the new hour restriction for eating establishments, and the holiday bans, South Florida is focusing on issuing violations. Broward County issued 12 violations this past weekend, with two locations receiving fines of $15,000 for repeated offenses. It seems they will continue as the holiday weekend begins. The City of Miami will be issuing closures for violators, starting at 10 days for first offense, 15 days for second offense, and 30 days for the third offense. No word yet on any businesses being ordered shut.
